We are starting a new theater season on September 25th

Join Us in the New Theater Season!

We commence the new season with the play “My Brilliant Friend,” directed by Ewelina Marciniak. Starting from September 25th, at the Small Stage, you can admire not only the performances of Anna Paruszyńska-Czacka and Karolina Staniec in the leading roles but also the mastery of the entire ensemble.

Subtle, shifting in its tensions, alternately sensitive and ruthless. “My Brilliant Friend” is one of the most sensual plays I have seen in the theater recently. […] Paruszyńska-Czacka and Staniec create a splendid duo on stage at the Stary—Marciniak has cast two thirty-something women in the roles, older than their characters at every moment in the play. Yet age is no obstacle here—the actors not only capture the characters, they return to themselves in the past, immersing themselves in changing contexts and tensions.

And on the Main Stage, starting September 26th, we present “The Threepenny Opera” directed by Ersan Mondtag – a grand production of Bertolt Brecht’s most famous play, with magnificent music by Kurt Weill, performed by the ensemble under the direction of Justyna Skoczek.

Krzysztof Zawadzki is evidently enjoying the role, and the pleasure is shared by the audience. It’s hard to wonder why, as the costume and make-up seem to imply this approach to the character. Zawadzki’s Peachum is startlingly reminiscent of (…) Jack Sparrow from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” and he has a flair similar to Johnny Depp. (…) This is one of the best roles in the play. I’ve already mentioned the outstanding Anna Radwan, who is amusing and terrifying by turns, romping through her vis comica. Yet Magda Grąziowska steals the show as Polly. Marvellously corrupt, rotten to the bone, beneath the make-up of an infantile doll, Macheath’s profoundly cruel wife eventually becomes a leading character. (…) Anna Radwan brilliantly sings the “Ballad of Sexual Obsession,” but hers is a compelling “Pirate Jenny” different from all the rest—to my mind it was the most striking moment of the production.
