When we play

The theme of the re_wizje BIO.S festival, which takes place during the 2012/ 2013 season, is man understood as a unity in a certain specific system. BIO.S: the name describing this edition of re_wizje, determines both the group of life processes, as well as the system of conditions in which such processes take place; at the same time, it is a determination of information procedures between the operating system and the device and a possible English term for multiplicity of events. All these terms, mutually supplementing one another and commenting on one another, offer a possibility of programming multiple theatre activities and activities related to the theatre, which oscillate around broadly understood biography.

In autumn, we invited the audience for two premieres at the New Stage (Nowa Scena):

ŚMIERĆ I ZMARTWYCHWSTANIE ŚWIATA (“DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF THE WORLD”) based on Nisa-Momme Stockmann’s text directed by Ewelina Marciniak (premiere: September 28, 29, 2012) and PAW KRÓLOWEJ (“THE QUEEN’S PEACOCK”) based on Dorota Masłowska’s text adapted by Mateusz Pakuła and directed by Paweł Świątek (premiere: October 27, 28, 2012), which form a part of the theatre’s repertoire.

In winter, we visited the partners of our project: the Małopolska Cultural Centre SOKÓŁ in Nowy Sącz and the Mościce Art Centre in Tarnów, where we presented “Paw Królowej” (The Queen’s peacock).

The spring opening of re_wizje was inaugurated by POCZET KRÓLÓW POLSKICH (“THE GALLERY OF THE POLISH KINGS”) directed by Krzysztof Garbaczewski, text and dramaturgy: Agnieszka Jakimiak, Marcin Cecko, Sigismund Mrex, Szczepan Orłowski (premiere: March 23, 24, 2013 at the Chamber Stage).

Another proposal is a performance prepared in cooperation with the Ludwik Solski State Drama School in Kraków, presenting two variants of the same text, i.e.:

DUMANOWSKI side A/ side B
based on the novel of Wit Szostak
premiere: April 27, 28, 2013 at the Big Stage (Duża Scena)

side A: directed by: Konrad Dworakowski, text/ dramaturgy: Martyna Lachman (State Drama School)

side B: directed by: Sebastian Krysiak (State Drama School), text/ dramaturgy: Tomasz Jękot (State Drama School)

At the end of the season, which is also the end of the entire re_wizje.BIO.S festival, we would like to invite everybody to a June premiere weekend, in the course of which the following performances will be presented:

BYĆ JAK STEVE JOBS (“TO BE LIKE STEVE JOBS”)

THEATRE-RELATED PROJECTS

stary.bio.s – theatricalised city game conducted in relation to the performances of the Stary Theatre by the Theatre artists on May 17 and 18, 2013 between 7.00 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The game participants will wander with maps across the Old City and the Kazimierz district, following the footsteps of national heroes – poets and insurgents, discover places related to the history of Cracow (1794 – 1918). They will use their experiences during workshops (reciting and singing) conducted by the actors in the Stary Theatre. The workshops will be shown during the final concert at the Theatre stage.

Venue: BE Zone, time: end of May and beginning of June, 2013

Apart from it, within the scope of festival activities, we are planning to publish an audio-book and prepare and market four e-books via the Internet. We will also prepare a special application for smartphones.
